The issue of prejudice and racism against Australian Refuges and asylum seekers • Being told go back where came from it might be easy for Australian who were born here. Where Refuges, it does affect them mentally and emotionally (McDermott, Malik 2020). • Many Australian don’t believe why a family is seeking to live in Australia. • This issue will lead to increased risk of self-harm of Refuges with developing isolation and depression (Ziersch et.al, 2020). 2. This action aims to stop discrimination and to raise awareness and knowledge among social worker student. Sharing real-life story of the student who suffered from war in their countries. As Pauline Hanson stated, “we are in danger of being swamped by Asians” (Katherine. M 2016). 3. To achieve the goal, we will start with an action that will include. • Contacting the social work unit coordinator Jane Mears for having one video pod on the storytelling of Refugees and Asylum Seekers who recently arrived in Australia. • Building on the program of Treehouse Theatre that provided young student acting what they have been throw in their home country that made them become refugees. • This action will help many International and Local student to raise awareness and knowledge of why people become refugees and seeking to live in Australia. • this opportunity will help many students to have an understanding that true stories dose exists. • making appointment with Jane to discuss if we could have this action to be ongoing pod. 4.
