Response assignment

Alexis deToqueville wrote at length about the function and role of associations in America. For this assignment, consider and analyze a non-profit organization whose objective is not primarily political. In your analysis examine the nature and form of the organization with regard to its social and political objectives, membership (size of the organization, levels of membership, barriers to entry, management, fundraising, communications with members, formality or lack thereof) and whether it effectively serves both the needs/wants of the members and in the role that associations were observed by deToqueville – to meet the needs of society at large in some form.
