APA Format – In-Text Citation and Reference Page

When completing your work term report please remember all secondary information included in your report MUST have BOTH in-text citation and be listed on a reference page. Including a list of references on a reference page without in-text citation is considered plagiarism as you have not indicated what information in the body of the report you have taken from someone else’s work.

Two ways to use secondary information are:

1. Direct quote (word for word from a secondary source), requires you to put the information in quotation marks.
2. Secondary information written in your own words does not require quotation marks BUT you still must use in-text citation.

The Library website also includes a program called RefWorks which can provide assistance in referencing secondary material in your report.

PLEASE NOTE: For APA Format the listing of references at the end of your document is called “References” NOT “Bibliography” or “Work Cited”.

At least six external credible secondary sources are required for this work term report (Wikipedia is NOT a credible source). It also essential not to obtain all of your information from one source but rather a variety. Secondary sources are required to support information included in three sections of the report.
